Professor Raivo Uibo represents Immunology research group working in the Department of Immunology at the Institute of Biomedicine and Translational Medicine of the University of Tartu. The research group has a long experience to carry out immunological investigations in different autoimmune conditions. In recent years the main research interests of this group are connected to immunology of diabetes and celiac disease as well as to biomarkers related to these diseases natural course characteristics. The group is developing in vitro models for studying cellular targets in these diseases. 

In HEDIMED the group is responsible for the studies in the GDME cohort, particularly in innate and microbial immunity studies as well as for the studies where 3D tissue scaffolds are used as experimental targets.
